Southport Brewery has brewed a World Cup beer - AFRICA GOLD
In case you don't know, this year is World Cup year and to celebrate the tournament and the England football teams success at reaching the finals in South Africa we are brewing a unique beer, AFRICA GOLD. As the name suggests this is a light golden beer, with a hoppy flavour and a strength of 3.7% abv. It will be a refreshing beer and something to hopefully toast the success of England winning in Africa.  

Southport Brewery would like to congratulate Southport FC on being promoted to the Blue Square Premier League after successfully winning the Blue Square North division. Southport Brewery supplies the beer Grandstand Gold to the football club on match days.

The Grand National needs no introduction to followers of National Hunt racing and neither does one of racings most famous Steeple Chasers 'Red Rum'. In honour of this great horse that won the race 3 times, and the association to Southport we will once again be brewing 'NATIONAL HERO' ahead of the 2010 Grand National to be held at Aintree on 10th April. The Grand National Aintree meeting takes place over 3 days (8th-10th April). Orders of 'NATIONAL HERO' should be made in advance to Southport Brewery and this 4.0% beer would be great with live tv coverage of the race and a friendly 'sweep'.

Southport Brewery will be represented by GOLDEN SANDS at the 23rd Wigan Beer Festival. It starts on Thursday, 4th March at 5.30pm and finishes on Saturday, 6th March at 11pm.
As usual, it is being held at the Robin Park Indoor Sports Arena, directly opposite the DW Stadium (home to both Wigan Athletic and Wigan Warriors). Further details can be found at http://www.wigancamra.org.uk.

 SOUTHPORT brewery will be sending a wide range of beers to the 30th Liverpool Beer Festival. The event is held between the 18th-20th February in the Metropolitan Catholic Cathedral, Crypt on Brownlow Street. Organised by Liverpool and District CAMRA, with a selection of 250 different and unusual real ales plus ciders, Perries, fruit wines and food. Further information can be found at www.merseycamra.org.uk. At the time of posting this news announcement the beer festival is sold out. However there are opportunities to work at the beer festival as a volunteer. More information is available from their website. 

January the 15th saw the Scarisbrick Hotel, Southport host the Small Independent Brewers Associations (SIBA) annual conference. Southport Brewery was represented by Carousel this year. Results of the competition can be found on the SIBA website at siba.co.uk
